it all matters

I ran into a 3rd grade mom yesterday at the Willow Oak information session. We started talking about our program and the possibility of it being incorporated into the new charter school (how amazing would it be for Teach Social First to be a part of the first classes of this new school???)

Anyway, the mom went on to say that she still uses the vocabulary from our lessons a lot at home with her children. This was great news to hear. Want to know why? Her daughter was in a classroom with very little teacher “buy in.” The teacher would often leave class during our lessons, did not follow through with the class challenges we gave to the class, etc. Ginny and I often felt like it was a waste of time for us to be in that classroom. I now know that is not true. We reached at least one family, if not more, by being in that classroom. That means it did matter!
