A little behind….

Life has gotten in the way of my blogging recently. It does not happen a lot, but every now and then life gets in the way. I love to blog and write, so this is hard for me.

A cold, family camping trip, oh and the work of establishing  a new non profit. Sigh. Here is an update from the latest lesson and more….

This month we will be talking about what it means to be a part of a group. The first topic: doing what is expected (vs unexpected). When you do what is expected, people in the group feel comfortable around you. When you do what is unexpected, people feel uncomfortable. I was quick to add that if you do what is unexpected, it does not make you a bad person, just someone who needs to think differently.

The book reading was David Goes To School by, David Shannon.

I started the lesson with a real question that does not have any easy answers: How can I be brave enough to say no or disagree without hurting someone’s feelings? I was really amazed at the answers the girls gave.

Our way of being active? Battleship! Think cones, bean bags, crab walking and teams. I will apologize that my bean bags had corn in them….a little harsh when the competition got high. Will modify the game next time around 🙂 Here are some pics from our be active game.

Learning to be a part of a group is such an important skill. Check back for more about this skill later on this month.
